Mrs. Mary Purcell, 75 years old, widow of the late John L, died at her home on Simpson Street at 12:30 today after an illness of 4 weeks, following a stroke of apoplexy. She was born in England in 1839 and at the age of three came to this country with her parents. She had been a resident of Crawfordsville for 52 years and was one of the best known women in the city. Her husband, John L. died a year ago. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Charles Hirst and Hattie Purcell of this city and Mrs. Pearcy of Terre Haute; two sisters, Mrs. William Scott of this city and Mrs. Clark of Ohio; also one brother, George Pond of Ohio. She was a faithful member of Trinity Methodist Church. Buried Oak Hill Cemetery with husband John. - kbz
